Memories

I called another,

yet you always answered.

The Gloomy Playlist

I listen to a graveyard on the tube,

I vacuum as hearts break,

a stranger's relationship ends to jazz.

I soundtrack summer with winter's palette,

for sunlight seems bright when you paint on the shadow.

Change

New faces crowding familiar spaces,

old talk from new mouths,

pleasantries polished and handshakes dusted,

fresh sums pose old equations,

everything is waiting on an answer,

yet I never did well at maths.

Break

Pause your misery in thundering sunlight,

burn sadness from tear-tracked skin,

swim in the brutal heat,

scream as one refreshed,

and cast your face from shadow.
