Peace
Together we sipped on sunshine,
placing toothsome treats on chequered throws,
somethering enjoyment in opulence.
We brought all that we had,
yet we'd had all we needed.
Events
Yesterday never leaves,
It's burned into trembling skin.
Memories make pale lines across healing minds,
ripe to tear again anew.
Pain does not move on,
it merely fades.
Betrayal
Sour alcohol breath and silent screams,
smiles from a friend as hands break borders.
Hot tears coating seized steel muscles,
bunched fists heinously immobile.
The consoling lies whispered,
the answers ignored.
The decision another's,
the life changed, yours.
The jerked movement,
the desperate excuses.
The door grabbed,
the party abandoned.
The comforting backstreet,
the pitiful scream.
The clawing nightmares,
another's gift.
